cos haro didn't put a proper chain peg on the seat stay :( , so the chain was nicely dinging the paint wheneer you took the back wheel out or in (nice looking paint - but chips easily)

You could say the same about the bashguard too.

err, that's stock on the stylo SS cranks (and it's not even a proper bashguard - just a wimpy little thing that's mainly cosmetic).

I actually whipped it off this morning when I realised most of the chain noise was just the wider 1/8" chain lightly touching the inside of it :D

Bashguards are good if you don't want long pants to get eaten. Without tucking them into your socks or using one of them leg band things.

but surely the only long pants allowed on a bike are drainpipe jeans (black natch)

OK, so putting a 29er front end on a 26er is all wrong generally speaking as it will rake out the bike.
But if you took something designed around a 130mm 26" fork and put a 80mm 29" fork and wheel on would it keep a reasonable geometry?
Say something like a DMR Switchback?

I think most people putting 29er front ends on bike designed for 26" are using rigid forks that are not suspension corrected in order to maintain a similar sort of head angle. But, you could try it. Best way to tell if it's going to get all weird, is to measure the axle to crown and add the distance from the axle to the floor.

shouldn't be a prob - say the bike that takes a 130mm fox (500mm a2c), whack a white brothers rocksolid 425mm on (which allows for the additional 40mm axle height of the bigger wheel and gives the same effective geom as you'd have with the fox and 25% sag)
