They say at bikerumour that this the XTC 29er 1 and 2 are being released next week,

Not really... I asked the big cheese of the NZ distributor today, and no official words just yet. I'm sure once there is some sort of official release in the states we'll all hear about it. I will be keen to see a good number of giant 29ers being brought into NZ.

Personally I think an XTC Alliance is a retarded idea - the TCR Alliance wasn't/isn't much chop, why would the XTC be any better? They should just stick with an alloy hardtail and a 4"fully in the 29er range... if they go well, a carbon version next year to compete with the Superfly and Alma29 - don't half-arse it.

Also, Scott (Who swore they weren't interested in teh 29er game as little as 4 months ago) are releasing a wagon wheeler for 2010.

Deore cranks, Deore/Giant hubs, crappy rims, heavy tyres, straight gauge spokes etc... it's 2 pounds heavier than a 26"XTC2, and most of that is in the wheels/tyres.

Absolutely the spec is terrible. The Giant branded rims look like an all time low.

I can only imagine people will buy it for the frame/fork combo (although I can't imagine the frame will be that light either, Giant frames always seem to be on the porky side)

The good news is that Blingpusher has just landed 9 or so Singular Swifts, some of which are up for grabs. I know a few are already spoken for.
