P7 light are at the price/performance sweet spot right now.

The P7s should be overtaken by Cree XP-G R5 based lights pretty soon. These next generation lights will be more efficient, produce more light and be substantially smaller.

The technology exists now, it just has to be commoditsed: http://lux-rc.com/view.php?p=content/showcase/L30/order

Yep, the XP-G R5 are pretty bright. Just upgraded the PCB in my light from a triple XR-E.
Got a narrow lens, the XP-G has more spill than the XR-E does.
I'd say it is brighter than my P7 diy light, less of a hot spot though.

Just a heads up that I'm selling a non-functioning Niteflux halogen lightset on Tardme that IMHO would make quite a nice starting point for an LED conversion. Battery pack stuffed, cable needs attention, but has a tidy aluminium enclosure, helmet and handlebar mounts and the business end of the cable is in good order.
