Its like only been ridden 5 times I recon so I dont think I'll bother with a service just yet
Yeah cool,so the left leg of the fork is the one on the left when your sitting on the bike right?
Air valve in each leg,one for preload and one for positive air,any tricks here?

yes, left leg is left one, when sitting on bike

air valve is preload only, there is a coil in at least one leg, but the air is only preload

LBS is swapping out my frame on a warranty claim. I have a full service booked in elsewhere next week. Most of the stuff covered in the service will have been covered in the gear swap yes ? Except maybe brakes ? Bike is 9 months old.

Thanks to all your advice I seem to have got rid of the creaking sound out of my "BB." Despite really trying I never did get it out, with the last straw being me not being able to find my torque wrench, so not having a socket wrench large enough for the bit. That being said, I did go back over everything, removing and re-greasing the chain-ring bolts, pedals, seat stem, cranks, and pretty much everything.....and surprise surprise noise is gone. There is no lateral movement (at all) in the BB so I think it is nailed.

Today I cleaned the bike after yesterdays ride through the rain, and found the front wheel bearings were a bit grindy, so I have re-greased those too. I'm looking forward to my next ride to see how it is.

So thanks again for everyone's advice. I guess that's saved me about $150 for servicing, less $50 for the tools I have bought, so that's another hundy towards a new bike. :) :) :) Am thinking at the moment it is most likely to be a Trek 4.5

Need some help here. Got a frame coming with a tapered headtube, and my fork has a 1 1/8 steerer. Complete bike specs say "Campy style" top headset cup. Am I able to use another type of headset, or does it have to be Campy? I realise I will have to get a new headest to fit the taper, any suggestions? Hope you understand what I mean! Thanks

What type of frame?
it'll have one of 3 types of commonly used headset type
Standard press cup - cup sits above the head tube
Integrated headset has a sunken cup that is pressed into the head tube to give a lower stack height
or Angular contact bearing (ACB) - bearing is pressed straight into a taper in the frame

Hey Bob
It's a warranty replacement 2010 Stumpjumper. So it needs to be a headset thats 1.5 at the crown race/ 1 1/8 at top but still accept my 1 1/8 fork. Is there a headset that does this, or will I need to space out the steerer tube at the bottom with an adaptor?

campy style is a 45 degree angular bearing that just drops in.

Sweet, thanks. So do I need this, or can I use a regular top race?

What you need is a tapered headtube fitting headset, with a reducer crown to run your standard steerer fork

Something like this, but with a different crown race for the standard steerer fork
