I got a spicey ramen noodle soup for lunch. Way way way too warm today to be eating a spicey hot lunch*. Fush and chups on the beach would have been a nicer idea. Too bad I'm about 40kms away from the seaside :(

Saying this might piss some people off but I found that anywhere that sells "Mr Chips" chips has got to be shit. Ive been to a place in taihape ,porirua and one in welly somewhere and they all sell "mr chips" and they all were crap tasting and had tiny scoops :( .

Mr Chip do alright chips but its same with mcCain how they cost a lot more that other brands. But the taste also depends on what oil they use and what they use to season the chips. We use Fresher Foods chips, we have been using them ever since weve taken over the business which was a long time ago. There are also the batch of yellow chips, these chips are more yellow than normal chips. Maybe the potato that they use. This kind is more starchy but absorbs more oil, therefore not so cruchy.

Best fish is Mangonui Fish Shop on the wharf in Mangonui. Chips are much of a muchness everywhere though. They're either ok or shit but nowhere in particular stands out as being amazing.

I just realised that I totally don't have a local fush and chup shop at the current time :( ...... and really I haven't had one since I left Wellington. I sort of had one in 2007 up here, but that was just 'cos it was close - I never got to know them. My local in Wellington they knew me, so going in there was like going to visit friends.

Now I know why my soul feels so naked :(

Major's takeaways on Stanmore road, they do the BEST fish burgers. But if I go the chips aren't very nice. If the Boi goes, they're always yummy!

Place to avoid, the fish n chip shop in the main street of te kuiti.
$3 for a measly scoop of chips, overdone, oversalted, and tasted like FAIL

Best place in Tauranga, down dive cres right on the fishing wharf, and you KNOW the fish is fresh too!
