that antique that you have pictured is running headers and so will have the right amount of back pressure to make x horsepower at x revs, if they didn't want any back pressure they wouldn't have any pipes at all. know of any engines that run well without pipes?

Its running Zoomies so it does not fry the slicks. We ran up one of my race cars on the dyno and we were messing with exhausts. It produced the most powa with no exhaust at all (but it did not do much for the hearing or the paint in the engine bay).

surely formula one engines would run no pipes too because that is the ultimate for powa? or maybe back pressure aint such a bad thing huh?

From my understanding of things back-pressure related (which isn't a whole lot), it's more important for small capacity, high revving engines like a 2TG for example, as opposed to a huge capacity like the one pictured. But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
