Need some more people along for the final Makara round, some decidedly small start groups yesterday (though not lacking for competition).

I think Eden and Tom could do with a little more competition!.

I agree - and you could possibly do with a little less! ;) Well done on another fine win

Thanks John!, yep that sews up the series for me, which im pretty pleased about considering in April I was in a cast, Jonny Waghorn kept me on my toes though, he has this great ability to claw back huge distances on rough descents honed from years of racing, I can only go uphill fast.

I thought U15's would race longer races, hence he stayed down. But so far only one has been this way, he still races U15's and rec men in principle but like everyone else at the pointy end he wants to burgle a trophy.

Tom was pretty hot on the Pro-elite heels up Danzig, maybe next round eh?

Nothing wrong with the odd Burgle :sly:
There should be a big group for PE at Makara,

I guess those that have won classes already can ride up grades at Makara?

Eden hasn't sewn up the series yet, otherwise he'd be in PE too for Vertigo :D Maybe he can come to a deal with the others behind him.

His burgles are pretty bad though, Wgtn needs more fit kids with a few MTB skills.

I was impressed with the closeness of some of the racing though. Guess it's the kind of track you can't really get out-of-sight, out-of-mind on?

I reckon it was a combination of that and the variation of the course out the back. We certainly had a hell of a swap going on at the front of Snr Men between myself, Andy and Mr Murphy. You had the steeper sections where one type of rider could get away, then the fast, open, slight downhills where another might get on top of it, and then Hill Rd which was quite a shallow climb - quite different from the steep stuff out the back. Makes things more interesting for sure.

After coming out of Danzig behind Tom and Phil, it certainly helped to be able to see them ahead, though the distance seemed to change dramatically between the top of a climb and the bottom of a descent (unsurprising, I guess). Even at times when I thought they'd got away from me, catching a glimpse across the farmland certainly kept me working to catch up. Made for a novel psychological game compared to the more singletrack-y courses. That and the different terrain certainly made it an interesting round.

Fun racing, but don't imagine I'd enjoy the non-singletrack elements of it if just riding casually.
