Croesus Track

Postby bergwolf on Tue 19/Dec/06 10:42pm

Weather forecast was not so god. But we ended up spending a great day with
fine weather on Croesus Track. The uphill is much better rideable then Kirwan"s
track. The downhill more technical, the views from the hut fantastic.
Defintiely worth the effort!!

After that touristy stops in Punakaiki and Cape Foulwind. Now in Westport.
Tomorrow heading to Nelson / Abel Tasman.

Thursday: Something in the Abel Tasman area
-> any special recommendations
Friday: Queen Charlotte
Saturday: Wakamarina
Sunday: Nydia

Emergency: Fox Rear Shock (rp3) Bleeds Air! Need Service ...

Postby bergwolf on Wed 20/Dec/06 10:54pm

All right folks,

riding here is great. However my rear shock decided to bail
out on me. It bleeds air.
I need to replace it or have an on the fly service on it.
We are in Takaka (Nelson area) area right now.
Which shop does have Fox RP3 air sprung rear shocks?
Were is the next Fox service point?

Any help highly appreciated ...

Rameka Track

Postby bergwolf on Wed 20/Dec/06 11:01pm

we woke up to a drizzle in westport this morning.
Over breakfast it developped into a considerable rain ...
So we started the drive to Nelson and expected it to be a non riding day.
Almost there the weather improved quite a bit. So I spun the wheel
and soon we passed Motueka. Up the hill over to Takaka.
Thanks to Tjomas for the lift from Takaka to the Canaan
road junction. After some gravel road
the most beatifull single track started. A flowy trail with a gentle downhill
gradient the occasional rocky or rooty
obstacle. We were in trance on that trail.
fantastic!!

We will stay in the takaka area for 1 or 2 days, then head to the nelson
Picton area.
Anybody fancy Nydia or Queen Charlotte on
Christmas day or Dec 24?

Best bet is to initially try Quiet Revolution in the main street in Takaka. Nothing else much in Golden Bay. Not sure whether they can service or not. Unfortunately many shops in NZ send shocks away for service. You wont want to wait that long when there riding to be done!

You may have better luck in Nelson. You could try Hyperformance Hardware who are the NZ Santa Cruz importers - Santa Cruz use RP3's so they may be able to help with an emergency rebuild or repair. phone: 03 5480879

Good Luck!

Lots of good bike shops in Nelson.

R&R Sports, Bridge St cycles, Stoke cycles, The shop in Richmond (Richmond Cycle Centre??)...

Or Stylie at Hyperformance is a good guy and might have a spare shock he can do you a deal on.

What length shock (eye to eye and stroke) do you need??

Good to hear you are riding some nice trails.

I have a Fox Ava with propedal (it is an air shock, and works nicely). length eye to eye is 195mm (7 and 7/8ths if you want to be like the americans). Stroke is 50mm (2")

Could overnight courier if it fits??
