Boiling beer left two men with dangerous burns in Warkworth this afternoon.

The men - one in his 30s and one in his 40s - were both in a serious condition when they were flown to Middlemore Hospital.

A WorkSafe NZ spokesman confirmed it has been notified of the incident at 8Wired and was investigating.

Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust spokeswoman Kerrie Spicer said two helicopters were called to Warkworth to pick up the two men just after 12pm.

The pair had been flown to Middlemore Hospital immediately in one helicopter each, Ms Spicer said.

Middlemore Hospital spokeswoman Lauren Young said the men had since been admitted to the national burn centre and were now in a stable condition.

Is nasty.

It is Andrew from Behemoth (he would have been at 8 Wired doing a contract brew) and JB from 8 Wired. Apparently something happened in the kettle during the boil causing the boiling wort to suddenly overflow.

Oh shit :( burns are awful business. Must have been a bit more than an "overflow" to require two choppers, surely?!

I think the heli's are only equipped for one patient each. Both had serious burns...

Gigantic Pipe Wrench.

IPA aged in gin barrels.

In terms of flavour and intensity it's not far off drinking 650mL of gin. At 8%, the 650mL bottle gives you a fair wallop. No complaints here.

So, hmmm... This Moa Imperial Stout is surprisingly good. And bang for buck it's even better. 500ml bottle at 10.2 %, 's quite a kick :D

Had a Sparks Prospector at Poms last night.

It was like drinking bubblegum.

Not for me.

I Just come back from a trip to the states and a chance to try a few different brews.
In Dallas I had a couple of shiner bocks which were pretty good and understandable why they are across the country now.
Goose island iPa from Chicago was pretty good and very nice out of cans.
Tap beers in Utah have to be under 4% by state law. Madness. Another state law is that it's illegal for a punter to take their beer from the bar to table. A professional has to do it.
Luckily the bottled beer was making up for it. I had a hop notch IPA which was fantastic. Hoppy but quite smooth and well balanced, which was more than I was as it kicked along at 7.8% to make up for the water out of the taps.
Also had an epic red rye (not related) which was cracking.
There seems to be a real two tier system as there is still a shitload of bud light etc being drunk but a steady undercurrent of more interesting stuff.
