Had a beer at The Laboratory for lunch today. Their own brew (can't remember the name) is rather good. Would trade again.

I had two beers the other day that absolutely blew my mind.

Panhead Triple Eye.
http://www.beercellar.co.nz/detail/NZD1 ... s-Pale-Ale

13% IPA. I bought it expecting an overpowered, fairly boring excuse for a high ABV label. It turned out to be amazing. Flavour so strong it made me curse. The most dank (stoner meaning not regular person meaning) hops on planet earth. Exceptionally well balanced. Mind blowingly fruity. Just the right malty sweet.

Coronado Barrel Aged Stupid Stout
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/coronado-s ... ed/237601/

10% Stout. Stupidly good. The best balance of coffee/cocoa/vanilla/plum/raisin/pudding that you can get for a desert beer, possibly because it was balanced with bourbon. It works. I'd rather have one of these than... pretty much anything. Even if it did keep me awake for HOURS.

How did it go?

Ballast Point Sculpin

Pourfeel: it went into a glass
Ocularfeel: looks like an IPA
Facefeel: it went in my face and I think it was 7% or so.
Tonguefeel: tastes like an IPA.
Conclusion: pretty good IPA. 7/10.

Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin

Pourfeel: just like regular Sculpin.
Ocularfeel: just like regular Sculpin.
Facefeel: oh my god get inside me you fruity motherfucker.
Flavourfeel: you like hops? You like bitter hops? You like sweet citrus hops? Why not just add grapefruit instead? Its an IPA magnified in all the right areas. Fuck yeah grapefruit. The only time I've enjoyed it. Didn't expect an added flavour this strong to work so well.
Conclusion: 9/10 nailed it.

Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin

Pourfeel: ominously lacking head
Ocularfeel: slightly redder in colour than regular sculpin. Also ominous, but looks glorious.
Facefeel: Jesus fuck this is spicier than I expected. The beer is cold and also burning. After the initial shock it settles into a lovely warmth.
Flavourfeel: incredibly tasty fresh habanero peppers mix well with the bittersweet citrus flavour of the hops. Works better than expected.
Conclusion: just as good at the bottom of the glass as it was at the start, which is unusual for a chilli beer. Fuck yeah Sculpin. 9/10.

Ballast Point Sculpin glassware

Lipfeel: thick and hefty
Eyefeel: has a fish on it.
Engineerfeel: logo was applied crooked.
Cancerfeel: paint for logo contains lead and cadmium.
Conclusion: 10/10 would cancer again.

Those were my tasting notes from sculpin day. Had another one from the beer library so thought I'd post them up.

You wrote them down or something?
It was a while ago, unless there's been another since summer.

Has The Beer Library got their liquor on-licence?
I haven't been back there since I discovered Punky Brewster.

Still can't drink there (apart from freebees). Range is nice and always changing. Never been to punky because it's in a crappy place for me, but I've heard it's nice for stuff on tap.

We should ride bikes at some point. I've barely touched mine for weeks, and still haven't ridden the ellsworth with its new braapulous geometry.

Oi this is the beer thread :hmmm:

Punky is great.
About 3 times the amount of taps as the Library so lots of range.

Can't do notes like you do but the last lot I got was Golder Bear Tumbleweed IPA.
Tasty :)
Better than the Behemoth 6Foot5.

I tried to head up Worsleys on Saturday arvo but couldn't get rid of my parents who were visiting.
Wobs went and it was too moist anyways so didn't feel bad :)

Looks like it'll be worse for this weekend :(

I found this thread abandoned on page 2 so I'm claiming it and I can do whatever I want with it :hmmm:

Wobbler likes the moist so he would have been happy.

Tasting notes are easy just pretend to be a pretentious fuckwit. Or be drunk.
