Ray Charles at Misson Vineyard

He was on stage for 45 minutes, then helicopter > charter flight > jet plane back to the states for some award thingie

Ripped off. Spent longer in the car park getting out of the gig than the time he put in.

I despise the Mission Concert, went once because my Mum bought the wife and I tickets and another time when there was a spare ticket at home. It always seems that its poorly managed. Grew up 5 minutes down the road from the mission so saw the carnage each year.

Standout gigs for me:
1993 U2 ZooTV, Lancaster Park in Chch. It was huge, blew my teenage mind.

1998 Radiohead OK Computer at Queens Wharf. Tickets said 8:30 kickoff. 8:45 the lights went down..... "Fitter, happier, more productive". No opening act, boom - take that, latecomers.

And of course the 06 and 09 (I think) Shihad gigs at Valve. Nothing like a big band in a small venue.

Only gig I can think of that disappointed was Silverchair. Well after their prime, sucked pretty hard. Went to see them, left being way more impressed with Powderfinger.

Green Day was a band who I had low expectations for, but were fantastic live. Similar to the Foos - felt totally entertained for a full two and a half hours.

This band.. Lost count of the number of times I've seen them live but the two stand out concerts were them with Weta at then Arena in Brisbane around their general electric era, then maybe 04/05 at the Riwaka tavern with the Datsuns...

Oh but what I'd give to have been able to see The Clash live in their hey day...

A recent stand out for me was Volbeat. Super entertaining, and would love to see them in their own right. Also Tesseract.

And Pokey Lafarge at Bar Bodega was great too! Amazing actually.

Iron Maiden was amazing. a Perfect Circle was just amazing too! And Faith No More has gone Hot, Cold, Hot for me. Cold was in London about 3 months before they disbanded in 97 or 98?

Damn, forgot how amazing and commanding the Marilyn Manson was at the Reading Festival in 97 too. They we followed by Metallica, also amazing.

Wasn't there a thread years back on What Bands you have seen live? My list is getting to the point I'm forgetting a lot of them now! I have been pretty lucky I reckon.

Bingo!

I'm with you, I started thinking about Cypress Hill for some odd reason the other day. About 10 minutes later remembered I'd seen them in Germany 10 years ago!

I would like to see a completely unrehearsed band consisting of Oli and the Bee Gees performing Jackson 5 songs.

Not sure about Michael Jackson or the BeeGees, but I was a part-time member (Security of the Nerd World) of the famous Love Factory Band - opening for Head Like A Hole at the Carpark was a career highlight.

Why on earth wouldn't he?

Would you go and see KISS without the tongues? Liberace without the sequins?
