Avid Elixir 7

Postby dwgknz on Sat 15/Jun/13 8:34am

I've found a cheap set of Elixir 7's online due to a mistake made by a large internet retailer. They'll honour the price but now have seen a few bad reviews dating back a couple of years. Anyone have any first hand views of he 2013 7s?

I have got some. They are fine for me, but you have to like Avids, if you know what I mean. Mine don't squeal or vibrate etc

they may need a bleed from the get go but they're a nice powerful brake, 90% of the issues you hear with them is form improper bleeding.

A lot of the issues we had were sticking pistons which was caused by the seal fouling the piston. For 2013 they changed the seal and we've had no issues with that this year. As shmoo said they just often need a good bleed.

Shimano is still better though lelelele

my elixirs were poo's. Bleeding didnt help - essentially the master piston wore out way to easily
now got a very nice set of slx's that stop better with more modulation on a smaller rotor(same bike)
previous juicy's seemed ok though . . .
