Talented Tasmanian mountain-biker Rowena Fry has signed up with Avanti and very quickly demonstrated her winning form on her new Avanti Competitor Team. In her first official race on the new Avanti Fry blew away the competition at the Australian National Mountain Bike Series a few weekends ago in Thredbo. Being her first outing on her new bike it shows signs of great things to come.
Leading from the outset, the national champion stormed home to secure her second victory of the national series by nearly a two-minute margin commenting shortly after her commanding victory that “I really wanted to one win this weekend, I’ve just got a new bike sponsor, Avanti, and I wanted to get off to a good start with them and show them that their faith in me was worthy.” She went on to say that “despite the bike being new to me it felt fast and nimble from the outset. I’m looking forward to the next race already!”
Well the team at Avanti have absolute faith in Fry and were totally stoked with the win. Mountain Bike product manager Kane Alward was fizzing saying “it’s so exciting for us to have one of Australasia’s most talented mountain bikers riding on our products and to see her win straight away was just awesome!”. Certainly it bodes well for the future with, as Alward puts it, “lots of very exciting developments for Avanti coming up in the next year or so and some of the best possible riders from down under coming on board”.
Fry is currently ranked 20th in the world on UCI and World Cup rankings and is the reigning Australian National MTB XC champion, Australian National MTB short track champion and Oceanic MTB XC champion.
John Struthers, Managing Director and founder of Avanti commented that “it’s certainly great to see an Australasian bike brand like ours being ridden by national champions and after 25 successful years of being designed down-under for our conditions Avanti is in a great position to really take off over the next 25”.
With fantastic athletes like Fry on board who could argue with that.
