Submissions For Overbridge Top Of Wainuiomata Hill

Ok everyone - time send those submissions into the Hutt City Council again!! {Double Thumbs Up}

There was a plan to take a pedestrian overbridge (from Korokoro?) and put it at the top of the Wainui hill - to allow people to walk over from the southern side to the parkside (ie from one footpath to another!) Unfortunately that plan only got so far and now it's going to cost 1.4 million to put it up. Bugger.
The council should hopefully be able to find the money for it (at the expense of something else most likely!) but the project is now not even in the community plan - but we can change this! And to make matters worse, the council are planning to extend the median barrier ALL the way along the road! {Cry}

Most people who ride to the Wainuiomata trails from the Hutt Valley tend to ride up the southern side of the road on the offroad trail/path there. If the median barrier goes up, you won't even be able to scoot across the top of the road as you probably do now! So even if the bridge can't go ahead, they need to at least leave a gap at the top of the road so that mountain bikers and pedestrians can cross the road without having to leap the barrier with your bike (would this even be possible!?)

Remember this time a year ago - the Wainuiomata trail park wasn't even in the plan when we put in all those submissions and we ended up getting $250,000 of funding!! {Big Grin}

So - from the 14th April through til the 15th May submissions are being accepted!

Either make a submission online or send an email to annualplan[at]huttcity.govt.nz

Hmmm - I just tried to make an online submission but I got redirected to the original page... Send an email then!!! {Double Thumbs Up}
