Anzac Day Dawn Service In Rotorua

Postby Tama on Sat 25/Apr/09 9:00am

I got up early this morning to head out to the ANZAC Day Dawn Service with other cyclists. We met up outside the Pig & Whistle and rode through the streets to the Muruika Services cemetery.

It really is an amazing place for such a service, on the shore of Lake Rotorua surrounded by the marble graves of the fallen. As with last year Ryan from Burger Fuel organised a safe place to leave our bikes right next to where the ceremony took place.

This mornings ceremony was thoughtful and moving giving people the chance to remember the sacrifices(not just at war) previous generations have made to give us a lifestyle we often take forgranted.

I took some photos but as it was pretty much dark and I only had my camera phone they can't really convey the ceremony. The rain held off to, which was good.

Then it was off to Zippy's for brekkie
