My wife has just taken up the 20 week challenge, and kicks off with the City to Surf run in a few weeks time, and maybe a half marathon later. She is in dire need of some proper running shoes, anyone know any good deals in Chch at the moment?

+1 for shoe clinic, though you can your running style assessed and the right fit chosen, then buy cheaper elsewhere. But it doesn't really seem fair after the time the SC salespeople put in. I dislike wearing my 'free' SC t-shirts though as they're basically advertising billboards.

Even with $25 shipping they are still cheaper than anywhere in Chch. More choice than anywhere in NZ. Just do not buy more than NZ$300, else you will pay import tax.

Just one note about buying from Champs Sports - if you want Asics they won't ship them to you. Asics have some embargo on US shops so they are not allowed to ship them overseas. It doesn't stop some retailers (or vendors on ebay) from selling to you, but I know from trying that Champs will not sell them to you.

I've bought a lot of pairs of shoes from the USA (all Asics). When the exchange rate is in our favour, as it is at the moment, they are so much cheaper than buying them from New Zealand. But you do need to know your exact size before buying them
