Anybody Had A Go At The Mountain To Sea Cycleway Yet?

Postby mikeyb on Sun 10/Jul/11 4:59pm

I'm thinking of giving this one a go, but would like to hear from people that have ridden it (or parts of it).. Any info/advice would be appreciated.

Did it last November - great trip.

Advice:
Pick a dry weekend in late spring, summer or autumn. Take your time. Read a bit about the history before setting off. Don't miss out on the Old Coach Rd - then head north to do Fishers Track. Check out the land around Whakahoro and the food at the cafe there. A few km past Whakahoro there is a really narrow trestle bridge - if you like waterfalls, take the track down to the river just before the bridge.

Try kayaking for a bit after descending from the Bridge to Nowhere to the Whanganui. If you have time, ride from Pipiriki to Whanganui city.
