Oh no! That's awful...is he okay?

I have no idea what it is, but any kind of fit sounds horrible.

My cousin gets them - since she was little (she's now 26 & still happens occasionally).

Scared my aunty the first few times, but the family got used to it and just kept her safe.

Unfortunately for my cousin it comes on when she faints - at the sight of blood usually! Can get a little embarrassing....

*edit* - I think that's what my cousin gets - I'm sure I've heard it called that... Either way - it sounds like scary thing to witness!

First link I read - you're probably way more onto it than that...

Cheers Oli, thanks for that, Google has been very reassuring now that we know what the hell probably happened!
He is in the hospital, and seems to be sweet, and its no issue as you might have read just a result of running a high temperature off an on today but it was really frightening at the time..
By the time I came running up stairs to the shouting, I didn't see the actual fitting, just my little fellah lying motionless and white in his cot, his eyes rolled back in their sockets and as far as I could tell not breathing. By far the worst thing was I didn't know how long he had been like that, and had some dire thoughts when I lifted him up and he was completely floppy. He stayed that way for quite a while but I found he was breathing at least and he slowly slowly came around.

All good now, he is grizzling in full force from the next room at being put down for his sleep :)

People whinge and have angst about stuff in this country but I'm pretty sure the Ambulance and two officers were at our house in under 10 minutes from calling 111, in the hospital they monitored his temp all the time, wired him up for ECG, did urine tests, etc even though he had already recovered.
Absolute top notch I reckon.

I've had one of these. Temp went up to about 41 and I proceeded to cover my bed in vomit. Not really fun.

I came over all funny just reading that, and I guess, subconsciously imagining being in your position. Our children are just so precious eh... I'm really glad I read your last post first... Kia kaha

Bump. Bloody hell, happened again this morning, only this time I actually saw my boy keel over unconscious with his eyes rolled back in his head and not breathing. Fuck its scary, I ran about with him in my arms like a rag doll basically gibbering and wailing until I got it together and called 111.
They sent a fire engine first as they were closest and an ambulance, even the firemen were a bit freaked I could tell to see this little guy lying there motionless and grey staring into the ether.

Anyway no harm done, and big Props to our emergency services and hospital people they are frikkin awesome and very thorough!

You poor people.

When the dust settles, make sure you talk to someone about what (if anything) you can do next time. Sounds like 111 is key, but maybe if you expect another, and have a plan, things will be just that tiny bit easier...

My thoughts are with you.
