Another Wet Bus Ticket Slap For Killing Cyclist

The cyclist wasn't entirely blameless in this case but when will the courts get tougher on these killers?

It was almost entirely the fault of the cyclist he's dead :(

That’s pretty harsh. Yes, I’ve read the article.

Cyclist certainly at fault too
1) failed to stop for the red signal. Big mistake!
2) wearing headphones. Might have helped if could hear car
3) wasn't wearing a bike helmet. Might have reduced injuries. She was 11km over limit though....

Big issue I have and the other 143,000+ people who signed the petition for harsher sentencing, is the penalty seems very weak for a person who was an accident waiting to happen and showed no remorse just a few months later, even taking the piss out of what she did.
1) hit and run
2) speeding (11km over limit)
3) driving on learner licence with passengers
4) unknown level of alcohol. Learner license level is 0
5) unknown level of cannabis
6) no remorse for being involved in a death

Like I said, I’ve read the article.
Agree that there’s plenty of fault on both sides, but stating that “it was almost entirely the cyclists fault that he’s dead” is poor form by farty.

Agree him being the victim was mostly his fault. Also not sure a legal responsible driver would have avoided him either. Can't tell from the facts reported. If he'd not run red light highly likely he'd still be here.

Still annoyed at weak penalty for the driver who if they hadn't hit him would have taken out another person that day or in future. Sadly doubt she's learnt lesson from it and she'll repeat. Winds me up as I've two friends without parents because of drunk drivers.
