its popssible someone died on this. I have a report from someone listening to the south canterbury radio waves and a mtbiker died today. i may be wrong that its this event, either way a bike dying is bad.

May have gotten details slightly wrong - a glider crashed into a mountain downthat way today, may have been this?

I don't know about the other classes, but I can tell you who won the Womens Catagory.

Speedy-P and Ming-E, otherwise known as Sadie Parker-Wynyard, and Megan Dimozantos.

I got a txt from Megan this morning, sorry I don't have anymore info.

Woohoo good job Sadie and Megan!

Team Road Craft won (Kashi and Marcus) followed by an R&R Team, Central I think.

The event went well. No competitor died! The weather wasn't the best, we didn't see any scenery and it was really cold. In short, a well organised event for a first event, no complaints from me. I think they dealt with all the course changes and other things that were going on well.

I'll look forward to seeing the video Conners was shooting

Absolutely. Best event I've been a part of. A few (very) little things could have been done better, but a first-rate job for the inaugural race. The forced course changes in response to bad weather were managed exceptionally well.

I don't think I've ever so actively enjoyed an event while I was actually in the heat of it - it's usually on reflection, basking in the warm glow of achievement. Stage 4 was an absolute ripper. Something for everyone. Mud, obscene hill climbs, mud, river crossings, gnarly descents, fast descents, rolling tussock, mud, river crossings, dirt road and river crossings. Slightly clearer weather and no doubt the views would have been truly spectacular.

Did I mention that there was a lot of mud and river crossings?

Awesome event, brutal hills, steep fast downhills, great atmosphere - the crew that worked the event were hugely suportive, friendly competitors. Thanks to my team mate - Rockit, you rock!
