Alpine Energy 12 Hour Day/Night MTB Race

Ride hard out or ride for fun!

Entries open 1 August. Experience the best 12 hour race this side of the black stump (and maybe the other side as well).

Your mission - cover as many laps as possible during 12 hours of riding. Ride as a team or for those wanting the ultimate challenge, as a Solo Rider.

Located in Timaru - Centennial Park is good fun, undulating terrains, a few sharp but short climbs and nothing overly technical, perfect for longer races and suitable for all levels of mountain bikers. No big hills, and it's usually warm, fine weather.

12 midday to 12 midnight - cool transition camp area, heaps of spot prizes, live music and huge breakfast all included.

You can enter the Day/night as part of a team or ride solo. Solo riders can choose the 6 hour option or for the ultimate challenge ride for 12 hours. All teams have up to 5 riders, racing relay style for the full 12 hours.

mob: I missed this one last year, but did it the 2 hours preceding. The course is surprisingly fun - I have always enjoyed this event!

Yeah, it's a pity it's the same weekend as the Makara Peak Supporters 10th Birthday Bash, and round 4 of the PNP MTB series

whats the course typically like? more of a challenge than the likes of the DNT?

mob: It has some fast flowy stuff and some super cool single track and more than enough to catch the unaware out. Definitely fun.

When I say hours, I actually mean years.

I will be racing in Welly that weekend as well.

Was out on the course last weekend and its in great nick! super fast and maybe a bit more cut up from last year.The drop down under the bridge will catch a few out as it is has some good ruts. The stream crossing after the railway line is a mess so i guess that bit will be chopped out making the course a little shorter.
The weather not lookin that good so may get a little tricky on the bottom track.

Cant wait should be good fun!
