I have added the Craters of the moon area to tracks.org.nz and added some tracks.
Not 100% sure that the end of Buzzard is correct, anyone have log of all of Buzzard?

That doesn't make sense to me. Why does not agreeing on who'll pay for a road widening mean that the road is closed to the public? Couldn't access be granted in the meantime while WCC and Meridian un-twist their knickers?[/quote]

Because it isnt a public road. The argument isnt over who will pay, its why they should widen it at all and is a resource consent issue with other difficulties besides road widening. Access doesnt only affect bikers, widening is required for buses and car vs car. I wouldnt get too excited over these tracks they are fairly short in length and are almost not worth the drive there.

Adding New Tracks??

Postby the_1006 on Sun 14/Mar/10 3:14pm

Hi

I have several KML files I'd like to upload, but I can't find the 'upload GPS path' button under the map.

Can someone give me some help?

Cheers.

Works for me - just need to sign in and then it should look like this:
upload.png

If the upload link doesn't display, then it might be a privileges problem. An email to Jonny at info@tracks.org.nz should get it sorted.

Nope.

I don't have that on my screen.

I'll flick them an email.

Cheers.

Is it down? I look at http://www.tracks.org.nz and get the message "Application error
Rails application failed to start properly"

edit: it's working now, and what a fantastic resource.

Indeed it is a fantastic resource. Though it does occasionally produce that error message - don't know why. Refreshing the page usually gets it sorted.

I have stuffed ~900 KML files from tracks.org.nz into a geo database and displayed them in a map.

http://www.gamma.net.nz/content/tracks- ... played-map

Next step is displaying info bubble with all the track details when a track is clicked on.

BTW KMZ (for viewing in google earth) of all tracks data is here:

I don't see any tracks. The map displays OK, and the "KML overlay" is selected, but no tracks show at any zoom level. I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 on Windows 7.

Ok should work now, tested in FF3.6.3 (Win7) and FF3.5.9 (Ubuntu). Not tested in IE, don't imagine it ever will be :)

Apparently console.log screws things up.

The site has been moved to a new host, so the recent instability problems should now be all fixed.

The source code for http://www.tracks.org.nz has been released as a github project – so if you're into web development, then now you can contribute to making Tracks an even better place.

The website uses Ruby on Rails as its development platform. To get started, I've written detailed instructions for how I set up my development environment, see: Setting up a development environment.

You're welcome to contribute to whatever features you want, though the Feature Requests list would be a good place to start (note that someone is already working on elevation charts). So, get coding...
