All Over Rover For Vic Park Skate Park (auckland)

Sad news for urban cyclists in Auckland today as construction plans were announced involving the demolition of the iconic Victoria Park skatepark.

Transport Minister Steven Joyce yesterday announced that construction of the three-lane "cut and cover" tunnel through Victoria Park in Auckland. The construction will start January 2010 and go straight through the Victoria Park skatepark.

I'd be extremely surprised if it wasn't temporarily or permanently relocated.
I doubt the accurate depiction of a skatepark was of highest priority.... when photochopping that pic.

Yeah, its not the end of the world for Vic park, most of the ramps are made of wood, so that that hard to relocate, or put back afterward. Not something that John Banks would support how ever, so hopefully he will be gone by the time its finished.
