Alarm Dialer

Postby globe on Wed 3/Aug/16 7:52pm

Nowt to do with biking. Have a monitored house alarm, looking at ditching the monitoring. Heard on the radio you can get gadgets that will text you if your alarm goes off. Can't find it on google. Any pointers ? Cheers

All well and good but if your out on a ride/ at work and you get the txt what are you actually going to do? ring the house and ask the thief's to take the wife's jewelry but leave the bikes?

Monitoring is a joke anyway, we had our monitored fire alarms go off and it tooled them 50 minutes to attend.

Self monitored with a ip camera so the key.

Similar experience, we eventually found out from the neighbours our "monitored" alarm was going off all the time and the neighbours never saw anyone show up. We also never had a call from the monitoring company about the alarm going off either.
Also, when we got rid of the monitoring the false alarms stopped. Happy neighbours are probably better protection anyway.

How do you self monitor ? Do you use some kind of notification device ?

Our monitoring company calls nominated numbers religiously every time I manage to set our alarm off. Also called me promptly when I singed some bacon

With any number of devices, it will ring, text or email depending on what you want it to do. You can even set the camera to motion detect and it will start snapping pics and emailing them when it's triggered.
