Big thanks to the organisers and all the compeditors. Awesome event, really good fun. To those who didn't race you really missed out :)

Congratulations to sifter defending his title with a massive total. Well done that man.

Man o man, I am so fucked...

Well done to Nick and Monolith for their 1st place in Open Men. I think they were beaten on the course by Jonathan Kennett and Andrew McLellan. Andrew is a top orienteer with heaps of experience (1st Wgtn Series in '06) so no shame in being beaten by them.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it Nick. :)

Into a bath now...

Can't really take any credit, Mono did nearly all the navigating and my inablity to count almost lost it for us :paranoid:

After a recound, Nick and the Monolith managed to edge out last years 4 hour Open men winner Bryce Lorcet by a massive 1 minute and 30 seconds. I heard the teams dueled all day with a very similar route choice.

:pmob: its a sad day when the SS riders uses a geared rider as an anchor to slow them down

I have no excuses for my inability to keep up with Jim - on a geared bike I should have managed better than I did. But we were there for the grin, and loads of S&G's later it was all worth it. Feeling great today, so no harm done - I'll be back for more mid pack finishing next year :D

Thanks for waiting (at the top of the hills, at the bottom of the hills, halfway up the hills, halfway down the hills)Jim - a great day :)

I'll do a ride/walk report once I'm back with my maps! Needless to say, we didn't have the top form we did last year, but in a nice twist of fate, what we did have was enough to get us home safely and take out the win. More riding in the few months leading up to this would have been the key... Thanks Jim, and your cobbers for a great day out :)

That was a really nice event. Thanks organisery folk.

I'm happy with the singlespeed and oversized trail bike (that was being repaired as the start hooter went off) rumbling round to finished 3rd open men, 4th overall (4 hour). It's nice to know the winners took almost the same route, and we could only have matched them if we had more legs (and desire).

And any event where you get to ride baby Pram, part of the Karapoti Epic and Mr Smiley has to be just wonderful

See you at the sunday series.

When I checked, you still had almost the same winning margin in % terms as last year, but I think you guys did not want to show off your superior skill and fitness to much.

Well that's the only reason i can think of for why you choose to ride the course backwards (IMHO), skipping choice parts like the beginning of the "Epic" ( 130 points in about 30 minutes ) and the point at the bottom of Dopers ( 100 points in about 20 minutes )
Or it could have been de-hydration or one of those Brain Explosion things they talk about.
