Access Notice For Woodhill Forest

Postby Woodhill on Sun 9/Sep/07 11:25pm

Access to other parts of the forest whilst mountain biking has been ruined by a small group of riders that have upset the forest owners Hancock Forestry (NZ) ltd.

Offences range from cutting fences, riding through active forest areas to building dodgy stunts throughout the forest.

There's few people that can disagree with:

Rule Number 1 of trail building kids, check with the forest/land owners first... and don't complain if they take offence to your modifying their land without checking with them first!

Bikeparks has been smacked on the hand for not notifying them (for your dodginess??) and as a result of this, possibly risked our current submissions for extra land to be transformed into new trails...cheers guys!

Hancocks have been forced to adopt a no tolerance policy for future offenders, this includes things like riders riding/building outside of the Bikepark boundary and those parking in undesignated areas.

Thanks to those few idiots that have ruined it for everyone else.

Nice going, fools. Whoever you are, don't bloody ruin it for everyone else. Instead of digging crap jumps, go dig a very large hole in the Harbour Bridge, and jump into that!!

i whole heartedly agree with the sentiment that whoever did is it asking for Sh*t
but maybe noit the harbour bridge ( that would gridlock the place for years!) hows about go south and taste test household mains supplies or someother activity to risk you further diluting the human gene pool!

If its the trails im thinking off they were their long before Bikeparks took over. There used to be races run up on those trails. Good times.

If people want to build something bigger than what we have here, why not ask if they can build it here somewhere. I think I'm pretty approachable, I always want to see new stuff going in. Once you have proven to us that you do actually know how to build stuff that isn't going to fall to bits then those people are welcome to build. On most occasions I even supply the wood, nails, bolts, and most of the expensive things that structure building entails. Most average structures cost somewhere between $300-$1500 with the bigger ones costing far more than that with permits and drafting fees etc hence why they aren't popping up all the time.

Sure there's some rules we have to stick to but they are in place to stop the risk of something breaking whilst riding on it and minimise the risk as much as possible. We do have to get permits for things over a metre but the process is simplified well now due to the quality of the ones that are in place and the council being behind what we do and how well it supports the community.

If it's to do with us charging for entry then those who build also know that they are given passes to ride in the park based on how much work they do.

Yeah we have ridden there on occasion, we are mountain bikers after all..it wasn't cool though to see stuff that was dangerous (not all was) but Hancokcs are annoyed because these latest people didn't ask and were building unsafe things. Now everyone will be affected whether associated with these few silly kids or not.
