| Got down to the intersection only to discover that the track down to the lower carpark was completely blocked by fallen trees. Do not go down unless you want to push back up. |

| Update on Peaking Ridge - there were a couple of trees down yesterday - we made new track around one and cut the other one out. Awesome traction up there at the moment, this is just a must-do ride for everyone who loves to ride. |

Went out and rode Peaking yesterday , We had to ride up Classic and then along The Dunn Walkway to Junction saddle and back to the 4 way junction .
Along Sunrise was Primo ... Surprisingly Dry and Grippy with minimal wind and rain damage from monday .What little there was were easily cut out by handsaws.
At the moment its completely clear all the way along Sunrise and down Peaking ... |

| Browning is clear all the way to the hut now - and keep your eye peeled on the way up for a nice little treat we have left on the side of the trail :-) Thanks must go to DOC for clearing most of the big trees on the Hacket entry - and thanks to all the riders that contributed to clearing up the rest of the track. |

Gorse and broom from lower section of Broken Axe has been cleared today - still some weed spraying to be done on bottom jump over creek - hope to get in tomorrow if weather is all ok. Track is in great condition.
UPDATE: it all grew back!!! Needs a lot of work to clear it up again - might have to wait until all the rain stops and then get in with a weed eater  |

| Mint cond at the mo with new sections of track and features popping up everyweek. BUT please don't ride in the wet,as it takes alot of digging to remove the ruts that form,just common sense really!! |

Posts below suggest only Fireball Road closed, but the club forum has the following notice:
"Hira Forest: Harvesting commenced as at 1st October 2008
Notice of Hira Forest Closure Hankcoc Forest Management advise that access to the following areas: (Fireball Road, Fringe Hill Road, Tantragee Saddle and Groom Creek) will be closed to the public (Monday to Saturday) due to the commencement of harvesting in this area of Hira Forest until further notice.
All access permits for these areas will be cancelled effective from 1 October 2008 until further notice or as sign posted onsite."
I'm coming up to Nelson for the weekend from ChCh and want to fit in a ride - not familiar with Nelson tracks but looking for some techy singletrack for a couple of hours. Whats the best option close to town thats open? |

| Was mint on Sunday. DOC (?) has done some more clearing and there's only one lot of logs to lift through (easy) up near hut. |

| Good news, Turners and Dead Dog are now open just a couple of trees at the start of Turners. Fireball's all good and you should drop in at the corner by the ramps on Dead Dog to avoid the trees at the start but otherwise its sweet. |
