Canterbury Trail Conditions

Warfedaleposted 29 days ago by Dogskcollobs
Sweet. Only one bush bash on the way to the saddle. Fantastic. Pretty knarly on the way down the other side to the hut with plenty of wood in the way but DOC due through there this week. !

Greenwoodposted 33 days ago by j2hyde
Is in excellent condition at present. Some kind trail fairies have filled in a few of the nastier rocky holes.

Old Skool Bowenvaleposted 33 days ago by swtchbckr
All good, works done recently are excellent.

Top Zig Zag section, 'alternative lines' (shortcuts kinda), some are getting pretty rutty - keep your balance! obviously getting a bit more use than a couple years back

Craigieburnposted 37 days ago by radiusq
Mint. 2 downed trees across track - both can be ducked under whilst riding and are clearly visible on run in.

Vic Park - Racing Againposted 40 days ago by dh_winner
Caution: There is a DH race being held in Vic Park this weekend. Practice Saturday, Race Sunday. If you come across a taped section of track, please (1) Dont move the tape or standards (2) Be very careful crossing. Dhers will be coming through at speed.(3) Please dont ride UP the race track. Weve had this before during race runs. It just endangers your life and ssipes everyone off.

Captain Thomasposted 40 days ago by tricky
There's a couple of low hanging branches in the last 100m before the bottom stairs that are overdue for a prune back. Have notified council

Craigieburnposted 50 days ago by Dogskcollobs
It was in pretty good nick on Saturday 15/11. Scree's still pretty loose but rideable, one tree to duck 1/2 way to the saddle and a couple of damp spots on the luge but otherwise bloody good. Another week of good weather will see it mint. And thanks to whoever cut the steps into the snow at the end of the valley. Sweet.

Mt Grayposted 50 days ago by ashesman
Mt Gray (from antenna down switchback track) is completely clear and dry An awesome long, fast but not steep single track ride... The old walking track from lake Janet up to the lookout has also had a revamp by some local DH boys.

Double Fencelineposted 51 days ago by mtbrat
{Mobile Post} Double Fenceline is in superb nick

Old Bowenvaleposted 56 days ago by danose
pedalingkiwi and his team of trail pixies have been hard at work on old bowenvale, repairing winter damage, re-widening and grooming, and chopping back the hand munching thistles.

Haven Mtb Park - Banks Peninsulaposted 56 days ago by mtbrat
First mini Loop is open to ride for Club Members only...

You should stay aware, the trail conditions are dry and no slippery roots to slow you down on these prime piece of beech singletrack forest, plenty of windfall, but who cares!

Down to Townsend has plenty of more windfall, more climbing through the downed trees with little or no bash paths, but still worth every metre!

Hanmer Springsposted 68 days ago by Tama
Trails are muddy in places most are in excellent condition and will be extremely fast as they dry out.

Packhorseposted 68 days ago by mtbrat
Is in great condition. Some patches of onga onga to grab you, otherwise super.

Vic Park/bowenvale Traverseposted 69 days ago by Butch
Drying nicely after this mornings rain, just a couple of puddles in the low points on the traverse. Dazzas & Flow were a little greasy at 3.45pm, top halves of Brents and Flow were dry and dusty still.

Ponos - Vic Parkposted 80 days ago by dh_winner
Ponos is now open thanks to the voulenteers today. The big jump has changed and is no longer rollable. The nana route is arount the RH side.

Bridges Track/hospital Corner - Vic Parkposted 80 days ago by dh_winner
There will be people working on bridges track and hospital corner this morning until approx midday. Please slow right down or go around altogether if riding.

Craigieburnposted 84 days ago by dirt_chomper
Anyone very recently ridden up there? Condition? Any windfall? Anything to be aware of?

Crocodile Trackposted 86 days ago by Tinkerbell
Open now. The corners have been repaired, however there are two very large deep holes that require a lot of caution.

Mt Hutt Bike Parkposted 86 days ago by spaxton
Open for riding a little slippy in places, with two new connection trails open to lead to the Diggler and DHNZ means great access to the whole hill (10 trails )

Lake Sumnerposted 92 days ago by more_horse_link
Road to Lake Taylor has been graded with most fords having a concrete crossing. The tracks have a few large puddles but apart from that they are ok.

Track to the Hut has many trees down though and requires alot of hike a bike.

Wharfedaleposted 92 days ago by scatter
Some crazies on singlespeeds rode the Wharfedale on Saturday. Lots of windfall, in many places bushbashing is required to continue on.

Flying Nun - Port Hillsposted 92 days ago by Tama
An update on last weeks post - The top section of the Flying Nun is still totally awesome and half of the lower section (below Dyers Pass Road) has been cleared with a trimmer. Cheers Nick, you're a star {Wink}

Flying Nun - Port Hillsposted 99 days ago by Tama
The top section of the Flying Nun is awesome at the moment, there's been some great trail work going in up there. However the lower section (below Dyers Pass Road) has some head height foliage/ bracken that can catch you unaware. On Sunday there was some head height bracken just before a steep drop into a muddy culvert to catch riders out.

Wharfedale/ Blowhardposted 104 days ago by Trail
CD has been riding out there recently. Sounds like the trails are in good condition with a little windfall on them.

Hanmer Springsposted 105 days ago by Tama
The Hanmer Springs trails are in good shape. There was a few muddy patches to be found at the bottom of Bigfoot but apart from that they're nice and tacky and ready to ride.

Crocodile Track Closedposted 105 days ago by Tama
The Crocodile Track is closed pending repairs. It should be reopened by early October.
