239bike

Postby Astoria Paranoia on Fri 23/Oct/09 4:43pm

Anyone else had any issues dealing with them?
I ordered something on monday morning that was shown in stock but it still took them 3 days to despatch.
Is it reasonable of me to expect it to be here?

Was told that it their 'in stock' really means supplier stock so the delay is 239 ordering it then sending to you.
Quite misleading I thought.
Just wondering if people were aware of this.
If I'd known, I would've just gone down to the LBS instead of supporting this Vorb sponsor.

I emailed them a question when I was looking for a new helmet. They chose not to respond. I chose not to buy from them, and won't consider doing so again. The LBS won out on that one.

I would have thought that it would have been worst case scenario of you order it monday AM, they order it from their supplier (who is odds on in Auckland) they get it Tuesday AM, you should have seen it thursday I would have thought (allowing for an economy courier service to the south island from Auckland

That said I say vote with your $$, IMHO try Bicycle, Burkes or Cycle Xpress, all of them good shops from my perspective in the industry

I'm not at all surprised. My impression is a lot if not most nz internet bikeshops only order from the supplier once you have placed an order. Even with LBS's it often seems to take near on a week to get stuff from the distributor.

indeed, quite a conundrum. Lots of shops can't afford to hold everything in stock. Espeshly when people buy so much from overseas. I blame the doctors

Iv'e had a few dealings with Bicycle and Burkes. They were both very good, the stuff arrived within a couple of days and they always e-mail when parts might take a bit longer to turn up.

Burkes are good re communication and products but I've found it takes 4-5 days to get stuff to me in Auckland.

I've had mixed results using some of the LBS's that sponsor Vorb, i find that a lot of them are still advertising stock on their online stores that are not actually in stock at all and in fact sold out some time ago. I receently tried to order some cheap tyres, from 2 different stores, one had them available as an order in item as mentioned above, the other was out of stock at the wholesaler.

The worst service i had was unfortunately from the closest shop to me, i went into the shop to order a part on a thursday, no problems the sales man checked with the supplier for stock, while i waited, he then informed me what the cost would be, plus a small courier fee. All this was fine as the cost was around the same as advertised at other stores, and the hub would be here on the following tuesday. Tuesday arvo comes around and i haven't heard anything so i rang the store, i'm told sorry it hasn't arrived, should be here tomorrow, no problems i can wait. The following afternoon i havent heard anything and ring again, this time i'm told sorry it hasn't been ordered yet. By this time i am starting to lose my patience, it's been nearly a week and they haven't even ordered it yet. Friday afternoon i finally receive a call that my hub has arrived, great, finally. I roll around to the store to pick it up only to be informed that i'm very sorry but the price has increased by 40% since last Thursday, the justification for the price increase was the NZ dollar's recent movements, i then pointed out that the NZ dollar has been steadily climbing for the last 4 weeks, and was at the highest it had been for over a year against both the euro and the USD, on this news i am offered a 10% discount on the new price. I walked out without saying a further word, totllay dumbfounded at probably the worst service i've ever received from a bike store, when i got home i ordered the same product from Burkes online store, at the price that the LBS had originally quoted, it arrived on the following Tuesday afternoon, it came from the same supplier stock as the first store.

It's a real shame as the LBS mentioned is a small store, and i do like to support local retailers.

Recently i've been ordering a few things off of CRC.com, i find the prices are excellent at the moment and freight is usually bang on 8 days form delivery.

They are a LBS in Pukekohe, we picked up my wife's GTw Avalanche from there earlier this year. Service was ok, neither here no there.

They appear to be also on the North Shore in Takapuna now as well with a store.

Cheers,

G
