2011 Mid-North Island Cup (M-NIC) A low-key cross-country series ideal for riders new to the sport, or new to MTB competition, thru to those in training for the following NZ MTB Cup or further international competition.
A fun & social series for EVERYONE
Each round is run independently by the local club in the popular mid-north island mountain bike destinations of Taupo, Tokoroa, Napier & Rotorua, with each event consisting of multi-lap races.
#1 = Taupo – Sunday 6 November #2 = Tokoroa – Sunday 20 November – THIS SUNDAY #3 = Napier – Sunday 4 December #4 = Rotorua – Sunday 11 December (final)
If you wish to contest the series, you need to start a minimum of 2 rounds (out of 4) including the final. Your overall series score is your best of any 3 rounds, should there be a tie, then all four rounds will count, if still a tie, then the result of the final counts. Series trophies awarded to 1st place, medals for 2nd & 3rd in each category, presented at the final.
NB: Riders not contesting the series are most welcome to enter any event they wish.
* Round 3 – Hawkes Bay – Sunday 4 December – Tait Rd entrance This years 7.5km multi-lap course will be similiar to 2010, based from the Tait Rd entrance to Pan Pac Eskdale MTB Park, except with some changes to the middle portion incorporating the new Ninja track, and being 2km shorter & with less climbing! We will once again also have a non-championship 5.6km short course that is 100% flat, ideal for the kids, or those new to riding in events.
All participants must register at the event village between 9am and 10am on race day, to check-in & collect your race numberplates (which must be returned at the completion of the race).
Venue: Event Parking only will be in the paddock by cattleyards, access off the end of Tait Road, off SH2 just north of the Taupo turnoff. NO SMOKING & LIGHT NO FIRES !!! Please respect the privileged access we have on this private property for mtb'ing & running.

Partially the same course as 2010, but 2km shorter, with less climbing & now including the latest new trail, which is the locals favourite, of 'ninja'. An approx 30 minute lap (7.5km). The recreational category have a flat 5.6km course, partially sharing with the main course.
