2009 MTBNZ SUMMIT - Registrations are now OPEN

"Building a MTB Community"

The Hawkes Bay Mountain Bike Club will be hosting the inaugural MTBNZ Summit (conference) over the 3 days of Friday 14 - Sunday 16 August 2009. This will be held at Pukeora Estate, on the outskirts of Waipukurau in the Central Hawkes Bay.

All New Zealand Mountain Bike club members, committees, MTB Tourism operators and MTB event promoters and anyone else interested in mountain biking in NZ, are all invited to attend the conference.

We encourage EVERY committee member of EVERY affiliated MTB Club in New Zealand to attend. By hearing some of the great things happening for MTB in NZ, we hope the summit will motivate and inspire your committee to get things really happening in your region, town, suburb or city.

The programme (which can be downloaded from the HBMTBC website) includes various topics that involve classroom & on-site activities including hands-on demostrations at Pukeora Hill MTB Park over the fence next door; there is free time for exploring the local community (so bring along your bike), and evening activities such as a movie awards night (MTB Short Film Festival).

We have 3 price options:
Summit = $250 p/p - includes 2 nights accommodation, food (breakfast/lunch/dinner/morning&afternoon tea) + conference costs
Economy = $170 p/p - excludes the accommodation
Thrifty = $90 p/p - excludes the accommodation & food

You can either:
Download a registration form & post to: Po Box 8360, Havelock North
or, Register Online Here - Visa or Mastercard only

Registrations close at 4pm on Tuesday 4 August. (to allow time for caterers to get sorted)
We have a limit of 100 people, so don't miss out

No you don't have to pay to go to the AGM. The AGM will be held on the sunday afternoon after the summit has finished, so entry to that is free and open to anyone that is a MTB club member. The cost of the summit is just to cover accomodation and food for the three days, we couldn't get funding to cover that stuff sorry.
Is that clear Slacky.

Is there any chance the talking parts of the Summit could be videoed and made in to a DVD for clubs to purchase as a resource?

Is this Summit a one-off event or is it hoped to become an annual or bi-annual event?

Any idea when the programme will be finalised?

It's much cheaper to fly to Wellington (or Rotorua or Palmerston North) from Christchurch than direct to Napier. If we were to send someone from our club, is there someone driving across from Wellington who could give them a ride?

Hi Rebeka
This is the first summit and it is hoped to make it a bi-annual event if it is sucsesfull. I don't think there will be any major video being done to pass on, its a need to be there kind of event sorry.
There are good flights from Chch to napier and the venue is open from the thursday night if anyone wants to come early. Or on the same note most of the meetings/classes will be on the Saturday so you could come up on the friday night or saturday morning.
Hopefully another club will host next time, but this year it is in Hawkes Bay at a creepy old asulum on top of a hill in the country. But it is nextdoor to a cool little MTB park.
New program on the Hawkes Bay club web site in the next day or two.
