deceptive... From memory Koru's about a 3 degree average, while Aratihi's more like 6 or 7?

Hey - what's double between friends?

The first 0.5km of Aratihi has a gradient of around 9% while the rest averages 6% - for an overall average of 7%.

Koru is a bit up and down, with an overall average of just over 3%. The middle bit, where the slope is more-or-less constantly up, has an average gradient of about 5% - almost as steep as much of Aratihi and about the same length.

Course wont be marked but it is easy to follow, I will have people at the major intersections so you dont get lost, and queries just ask. Also have a look a page back iodi posted a link that has a map of the course

Last year times ranged from around 40 minutes to just over an hour, If you are thinking you might be quite a bit longer than that it might start to get dark under the trees through Swigg/Starfish, if you are not comfortable riding with fading light, bring a light with you.

No :) I was hoping there was going to be an "opt out" section, for people who are looking white and pale when thinking about doing Ridgeline and they could take the 4X4 track down to Ridgeline Ext.
