10th Anniversary Vorb Queen Charlotte Track Ride (2009)

Postby Tama on Wed 3/Dec/08 1:58pm

The last weekend of November 2009 will see the 10th Anniversary Vorb Queen Charlotte Track Ride. We'll be organising the ride so all you'll have to do is pay and turn up.

Because this is essentially a club ride it will be run on a non- profit basis and pricing should be around $250 per person for accomodation Friday and Saturday night, dinner on Saturday and track transport (via boat).

Initially we are looking at a maximum of 49 riders for the weekend (broken into 6-8 groups to cater for different riding speeds and avoid creating a MTB stampede.)

The ride will be over the weekend of the 28th and 29th of November 2009.

I've finally nailed down the pricing for the Queen Charlotte Walkway ride (The best description online is the 2007 ride: http://www.vorb.org.nz/queen-charlotte- ... 63251.html )

$20 Atlantis Backpackers (Friday Night)
$70 Endeavour Express water taxi
$65 Furneaux Lodge - accomodation (Saturday Night)
$35 Furneaux Lodge - BBQ (Saturday Night)

$190 TOTAL

E-mail me: tama.easton@gmail.com if you want to come along :)

Yes, I learnt valuable lessons this year:

a) If I leave it to other people to organise themselves we get 8 people instead of 49.
b) It uses up the same amount of my time and energy even if I don't organise it.

I'm nailing down the pricing right now so should have a clear dollar cost this month :)

Oh boy... I'd love to, but slim chance. Best excuse ever for a new bike and a trip away without the kids. :satan:

I put myself in at 60%. It's a bit difficult to schedule a year out, but hopefully all will fall into line.

Sounds like a good reason to ride it for the first time.

I would like some information about riding the entire track over two days. Me and my friends are veteran riders and are looking for some real estimates as to how long it will take. The doc site says 13 hours total. How long to you recon it would take to get from ships cove to portage at a pace where we could stop for a view now and again? Then from Portage to Anakiwa?

Cheers,
Rob

On the QCW site they break the track up into sections with estimated times of how long it will take. I'd use these as a rough guide.

I've failed utterly to attend for the last 10 years so I'm in this year!
